Stain removal and sealing
A stained brick front porch and steps cleaned with an industrial acid cleaner, a cracked mortar joint repaired, and the whole surface sealed.
This customer tried a variety of consumer grade cleaners to remove the stains from their front porch. Nothing touched them. By the time we got there they were asking whether we could clean the surface or whether the whole porch had to come out and be replaced.
Using an acid based industrial strength cleaner, we were able to remove the stains. This was an aggressive approach that etched the masonry surface but, with sealer, the finish will look better than when it was first constructed. While we were at it we repaired a mortar crack that spanned the width of the step by removing the old damaged mortar and replacing it with new.
With a wet look sealer applied, the color of the masonry is brought out and the final look is better than the original. Cleaning and sealing came in well under what replacing the surface would have cost, and they kept the porch they already had.
