Colonial-style chimney rebuild
A crumbling brick chimney taken down and rebuilt taller with stepped corbelled brick courses to match the house's Colonial restoration.
The original chimney was falling apart. What was left above the roofline was a short, squat stub. The brick faces were flaking off and the top courses were loose enough that one more winter would have done the demolition for us.
The house had been restored to look like an old Colonial, and the chimney was the one piece that hadn't caught up. So the customer wanted something new that looked a little more Colonial to match. We rebuilt it taller and finished the top with stepped, corbelled courses under a cap, which is the detail that makes a brand new chimney look like it has been up there a hundred years.
Small job, big difference from the street.
